Hitting the Target

Local K-12 students hit area Target stores Thursday morning to shop for back-to-school items free of charge. The Salvation Army and Target are teaming up for the third straight year to help over 12,000 needy children nationwide. Over 30 children from the Bessemer area will have a chance to fill a cart at the Target on Hwy 150. Each child is receiving an $80 gift card to purchase school supplies, clothing, and anything else needed for a smooth transition into the school year. Target awarded $1 million in gift cards to all 40 Salvation Army divisions nationwide for these shopping sprees this year. Nearly 500 Target stores are participating in this one-day event across the country. We thank Target sincerely for their dedication to helping those less fortunate.
