Major Bob Parker Honored

The Birmingham Branch of the NAACP took time recently to honor men who have made a positive impact on the community. The “11th Annual Salute to Men of Distinction” was held at the 16th Street Baptist Church and included Birmingham Salvation Army Area Commander Major Bob Parker. We thank you for the recognition as it is an honor to work toward the same goals with such a wonderful organization. “I feel very humbled by it,” said Major Parker. “I do not think that I do nearly as much as many of the recipients do out in our community, but I am honored to be a part of it.” The Birmingham branch of the NAACP is a unit of the National NAACP and is a non-profit. They are non-partisan and focus on job discrimination, racially motivated allegations and community service. The awards are their way of thanking people who are doing a little more than average for the community and to encourage others to do the same.
